It is a sandy based soil that is mixed and screened with Category A compost, which enhances the water retention and nutrient availability for the turf. The soil is free flowing and can be easily spread. The City of Ottawa Spec Sports Field Topsoil has been successfully used on many sports fields in the city, such as soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and football fields. Sports field topsoil is fertile and friable. 65-75% Sand, 25-35% Silt and Clay, where preferably clay is <10%.
